I guess you are right, although I hadn’t thought about it ! Perhaps I should have, I know it is wierd, but the tailors dummy (which belonged to my tailor dad) stands in my hall next to a canvas in a frame that I found at a jumble sale. I painted the old canvas in the frame to obliterate the painting underneath (hence, my painting is really ‘graffiti’) .The surreal bit about the dummy (it was also my grandfather’s dummy from Soho, London) is that as kids we would dress it up in an overcoat and trilby hat ( whilst dressing our selves up in white and flowers etc) and play weddings (the dummy being the groom!). All played out by a lilac tree in the garden, near dad’s workshop. A little put out that it had no head ofcourse! Hadn’t heard of Magritte then! The worn out dummy is more of a scarf stand now and stands in my house now largely ignored….. not always ignored by visitors though…..its still a bit wierd I guess!. Thanks for pointing that out, you are so right.
This one is very Magritte like…:-)
