caught turning to gold

Up too late to catch the first pink of dawn over the way, I went into garden barefoot, with the camera- what a mistake – the grass was so cold, so wet, I nearly flew back to the kitchen. But the pigeon pair, sitting on one of the lines above under the blue were in the middle of a conversation clearly excited about the hazy golden sun getting ever brighter and still rising in the middle of the gap over the way.

There was a sudden flurry and the gent pigeon took off while the lady remained innocent, still seated, cooing gently – on the line. He landed on another wire nearer the sun and seemed to crawl dejected along it towards the pole looking for his best seat to watch it all.

A few others tried to join him but were quickly seen off!

The sun ever brighter continued to set everything aglow – and then the birds flew away – to chase other things!

…… But look at her back on the line – still there – She has turned to gold –

And he has come back to her – having caught the gold – although I think he got a bit too close! – He obviously lost his head – and is quietly waiting to recover!

With any light mist burned away now gone – the fields to the side beyond the old Cherry tree – are suddenly quite yellow

    1. Thanks Jet! The birds usually look a bit pink in the morning light but it was their first golden look today! Must be the season moving on. Lovely and sunny here. I hope it is where you are. 😀 😀 Gill

  2. Such a beautiful sight, hope I didn’t influence you with my talk of sleeping in! lol. I love the bird, I got my camera out and followed a litte bird yesterday as he hopped from one place to the other to avoid me, finally flying off. Wonderful sunrise and inspiring scenes Gill! ❤

    1. No you didn’t influence me about sleeping in – I just needed another hour!. It was great. I will be boringly up with the lark tomorrow though! Hope you manage your bird shots. They do hang about in the same places so you may get lucky. Thanks for your appreciation Holly ❤
