Over there beyond the trees
a veil of mist hangs in the way
here where the plough has turned the field
crows pick and play all day
over there beyond the hedge
a veil of mist hangs grey
here where the plough has turned the field
the rabbits do not play
over there beyond the house
a veil of mist hangs like a shield
here where the plough has turned the field
the rabbits have gone away
over there beyond the gate
a veil of mist hangs like a sheen
here where the grass blows in the field
the rabbits can’t be seen
over there beyond the poles
a veil of mist hangs cold
a line of birds can see the way
and offer wings to hold Gill McGrath©
