Bright morning
Sky featureless and cloudless
Thought I had missed the sun
Put the kettle on, made the coffee
6.31 am.
Took a walk to the power lines
Saw the sun
Returned with gold inside my head
6.35 am.
In the kitchen
Drank the coffee
By nine, up there, cotton clouds are floating on blue

Having found a way to escape
From her jail at the top of the building
She found the door locked downstairs.
And more bars again.
Unable to break the glass
She frantically began to claw between the bars
Hoping someone would see her……….
But no one could hear her
And nobody saw
