the trees
and a glimpse
of the sun

Tag: wind
inside out
in garden. clipped. wrapped. silent
The castle on the hill
Stands like a fortress now
High sloping roof
Still
Ready
For the snow
The howling winds
The silence~
Surrounded by hard paths
All swept
Clean of summer
Now nothing moves
Step altered
Grass paths
Worn anew leaf specked
Lead silent
Towards the empty space
Where a new sown meadow waits uncut
Full of clover clumps
Buttercup and daisy roots
Where seed of poppy on new earth
Traces the shape
Of the old shed
Stripped
Dismantled
Packed
Now gone
Green box
Clipped like soldiers
Stand motionless in wind
Sentries snipped
In control~
While rain lashes
The silly sprawling fig
Still shooting buds
In the hope of finding Spring again
The beech hedge
By the door
Reduced recently
By a noisy chain
Stands silent too~
Leaves tight in hold
Still there
Guarding
The view
~Turn~
See the starry hedge
By the creaking fence
Unclipped
Dishevelled
Still breathing
Wind whipped
Holding onto
Summer’s song
While leaves astir
In gentle hold
Hide a secret~
In her leafy hollow
Underneath her gentle boughs~
Where they can see
The mists the moon
Play hide and seek ~
Her secret womb
The nesting place
Abandoned now
By flying things
And summer’s stars ~
It’s where you’ll hear her
When she weeps
In autumn rain
~Still spangling from last summer’s sun
Waiting
Still waiting
Still

color in the wind
Not so long ago we watched through the window as the fences fell over in a storm, one by one, like a pack of cards, all round the property. The high winds today have been pretty much the same, whistling and crashing all day. The fences (restored) are holding up, but it has been a day for tying down the dustbins… and checking other things….
Tiles.
still.fixed
on this slanting roof.
Catkins. horizontal in the wind. hang on
Iris. buds. still looking strong.
One bird. fluffed. hidden. nearly
Two flying things. sailing. having fun
Yellow fields. powdering.the air
Hedges. clipped. behaving…Ah!
The cherry blossom…
petals like snow
flurrying
falling
to the
ground.

and so the morning came
morning casting the violets
march yellowing the fields
rain. snow. a little bit of sun
first thing
to see
a tree
through rain
on a window
the pigeon outside
the pink and blue air
no sun anywhere~
the deep blue cloud
hanging on a line
of little indigo trees
hidden
out of view
in falling snow ~ by 10
~ then at 4
the sun decides to shine
where the deep blue cloud
is still glued to the trees
now a pretty shade of green!
then at 5.21~ just in time
a special little plate
of marshmallows
for tea
